American designer Derek Lam creates the kind of crisp, elegant but undeniably feminine pieces that will live in your closet forever, should you be lucky enough to own any. After spending the better part of a decade honing his design skills at Michael Kors, Lam launched his eponymous label in 2003, and took home the coveted CFDA Perry Ellis Swarovski Award just two short years later.
